We reached Leh on 6th day morning after leaving Mumbai, It could have been possible to reach on the 4th day night if we would have driven whole day, but once we left Srinagar, we started taking halts for photography and then at Jozila we have to wait for some work to get over. So we took 2 days from Srinagar to Leh, stopping at Kargil & Lamayuru, enjoying different hues of ladakh and yes thousands of wild roses in bloom everywhere.
We also paid homage to martyrs of Kargil War, visited the memorial, Looked at Tiger hill & other peaks with moist eyes and hand on heart. After driving through vastness of western India these heroes at frontiers have our respect and gratitude.
This war memorial is at Drass, worlds second most coldest inhabited place after Saiberia. In 90's one day of that winter, the temperature recorded here was Minus 60. I have been to ladakh in winter and had been to Minus 30, but can't imagine staying at minus 60. So we have in our country temperature range from minus 60 to plus 52. Nearly 100 degree range of diversity.
